Where the data comes from
Each spec sheet collects the specifications the manufacturer publishes on its official website: movement, power reserve, beat rate, crystal, water resistance, dimensions and complications. We put them in one format, with the same units, so that a row means the same for every watch.
A spec sheet is only published once its data has been checked against the manufacturer’s website. If a figure could not be confirmed, the spec sheet says so.
What we don’t do
We don’t do hands-on tests, we don’t score watches and we don’t write reviews. When a spec sheet says a watch is thinner or has more reserve than another, it is because its figures say so.
How the comparison works
In the comparison tool, the best figure in each row is shown in red: the lowest price band, the longest reserve, the highest beat rate, the hardest crystal (sapphire, then Hardlex, then mineral), the greatest water resistance, the thinnest case, and having hacking seconds or hand winding. Rows without a clear «best», such as diameter, are not highlighted.
How the watch finder works
It scores each watch on your budget, use and wrist size, and adds a little for sapphire, hacking seconds, reserve and water resistance. The three highest scores are the recommendation. It is explained in detail on the watch finder page.
Availability on Amazon
Every watch links to the page for its exact model on Amazon, not to a search. Before adding it to the catalogue we check that the page on Amazon.es has a buy button and stock, and the date of the last check appears on the spec sheet. If a model stops being available, we replace it with its current version or remove it.
Prices
Amazon does not allow its prices to be shown unless they come from its own API and are kept up to date. That is why each spec sheet shows an indicative price band and the exact price is checked on Amazon.
How the site is funded
Through the Amazon EU Associates Programme: if you buy through a Calibrario link, Amazon pays us a commission. You pay the same. The commission does not change which watches appear or how they are compared. More in the affiliate disclosure.
Photographs
Until we have the official images, we use photos under Creative Commons licences, sometimes of a similar model; each spec sheet says what the photo shows. The authors are listed in the photo credits.
